Spend time on your services, not another monitoring host
With Statance, the monitoring service is hosted for you. Install agents where server metrics are needed and configure external checks. Pro and Business extend that workflow with security monitoring and AI incident investigation.
With Uptime Kuma, you run the monitoring application. Its official project documents Docker and other installation options, status pages, many notification services and multiple probe types. Hosting it gives you control and also makes updates, storage and availability part of your responsibilities.
Make the deployment decision first
| Decision | Statance | Uptime Kuma |
|---|---|---|
| Hosting | Managed service; agents report from your servers. | Self-hosted application you operate. |
| Server and security context | Resource metrics plus Pro/Business software-security findings and incident investigation. | Container-state checks are documented. Full resource/security telemetry was not established by the cited feature list. |
| Probe interval | Paid uptime checks start at one minute. | Official README advertises 20-second intervals. |
| Probe breadth | HTTP, keyword, JSON, TCP, DNS, SSL and heartbeats. | Official README also lists WebSocket, ping, Docker container and Steam game-server checks. |
| Alerts | Eleven supported channel types overall; availability depends on plan. | Project advertises more than 90 notification services. |
| Service costs | Free, Pro and Business hosted plans with published limits. | Consider your hosting, backup, update and operations costs alongside the software. |
Keep the monitoring outside the failure you are watching
A monitor hosted on the same machine as the service can stop running when that machine fails. Choose an independent failure domain and an alert channel you can still reach during an outage. This applies to any self-hosted monitoring design; self-hosting alone does not make it unreliable.
Choose Statance for the combined workflow
If your priority is uptime monitoring with CPU, memory, disk, software-security context and AI investigation, Statance brings those concerns into one account. If you must run the monitoring application yourself or require Kuma’s specific monitor types and notification integrations, Kuma may fit better.
Try a parallel run
Recreate a small set of checks manually in Statance. Match their assertions and expected responses, add server agents, test alert delivery and observe recovery. Keep backups and export anything you need before removing your old installation. No automatic Kuma configuration or history import is claimed.
