Uptime monitoring
TCP port monitoring for everything that isn’t HTTP
Not every service speaks HTTP. A TCP monitor opens a connection to host:port from Cloudflare’s network and records how long the handshake took. If the connection is refused or times out, you get alerted.
What to monitor on TCP port
- 01Connection successRefused or timed-out connections mean the service is down or firewalled.
- 02Connect timeRising connect times indicate network or load problems.
Set it up
Create a TCP monitor
Target: host:port — e.g. db.example.com:5432 or mc.example.com:25565.
Allow inbound from the internet
The check comes from Cloudflare’s network, so the port must be reachable publicly.
Recommended alerts for TCP port
- Port refuses connections
- Connection times out
- Recovery

TCP port monitoring FAQ
Can I monitor UDP ports?
Not at the moment — TCP only.
Should I expose my database publicly to monitor it?
Usually not. For private services, monitor them from inside with the agent and a heartbeat, or expose a small health endpoint instead.
Know before your users do.
Free forever for 3 servers and 10 monitors. No credit card. Install the agent in under a minute.
