Monitoring for RHEL, Rocky, Alma and CentOS

Whether you migrated off CentOS 7 or run RHEL 9 under subscription, the Statance agent works the same: bash, curl and systemd. It reads standard kernel interfaces, so SELinux in enforcing mode is not a problem.

What to monitor on CentOS, RHEL, Rocky & Alma

  • 01CPU and loadSpot long-running batch jobs or stuck yum/dnf transactions.
  • 02MemoryTrack available memory on database and Java hosts.
  • 03XFS and LVM volumesPer-mount usage so a full /var/lib/mysql never surprises you.
  • 04NetworkBonded and teamed interfaces are reported individually.

Set it up

  1. Install the agent

Works on RHEL/CentOS 7 and later, Rocky and Alma 8+, Fedora and Amazon Linux.

    curl -fsSL https://statance.com/install.sh | sudo bash -s -- YOUR_API_KEY
  2. Check the service

    systemctl status statance-agent
  3. Allow outbound HTTPS

If you restrict egress, allow TCP 443 to api.statance.com.

Recommended alerts for CentOS, RHEL, Rocky & Alma

  • Server stopped reporting for 5 minutes (down)
  • CPU above 90% for 10 minutes
  • Memory used above 90% for 5 minutes
  • Any disk above 85% used

CentOS, RHEL, Rocky & Alma monitoring FAQ

Does it work with SELinux enforcing?

Yes. The agent only reads /proc, /sys and runs df and ps. It needs no custom policy.

Can I run it behind an HTTP proxy?

Yes. Set HTTPS_PROXY in the systemd unit environment and curl will use it.
