CVE-2026-82916
Apache OFBiz: webtools xmldsdump exports any entity to any path
What happened?
Missing Authorization in XmlDsDump in Apache OFBiz 24.09 before 24.09.08 on all platforms allows a remote authenticated attacker holding only the webtools base permissions (OFBTOOLS_VIEW, WEBTOOLS_VIEW) — explicitly not the ENTITY_MAINT permission the export feature declares and visibly refuses to render for — to export the contents of any database entity, including UserLogin with its currentPassword hashes, to any filesystem path the OFBiz process can write, including a web-served docroot, and to create arbitrary directories or truncate arbitrary existing files at those paths, because the XmlDsDump screen action writes the requested entity data via new FileOutputStream on unvalidated outpath and filename request parameters before the screen's ENTITY_MAINT permission check runs, unlike the equivalent Java service entityExportAll, which enforces both a permission check and a file-path allow-list. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 24.09.08, which fixes this issue.
Affected software and versions
| Software | Version information | Fixed version |
|---|---|---|
| Apache OFBizApache Software Foundation | affected: 0 to < 24.09.08 | See vendor advisory |
Version information comes from the source record and can include unaffected products and exceptions. Distribution packages may contain backported fixes: an older upstream version alone does not prove a server is affected.
Is it being exploited?
This CVE was not listed in the CISA catalogue at our last retrieval. This does not establish that exploitation is absent.
How to respond
- Confirm the product, installed package version, and any configuration requirements in the vendor advisory.
- Follow the vendor’s remediation or workaround guidance in the references below. Structured fixed-version data is unavailable here; the publisher’s description may include a fix or workaround.
- Restart affected services if required, then verify the running version. Known exploitation may warrant investigation as well as patching.
